Designing from the age of nine years old, Monique Anderson’s love for creativity blossomed upon receiving her first set of fashionable paper dolls. Pursuing her design career, Monique successfully received a BA in fashion design from Ryerson University in 2004 and relocated to Montreal after graduating to gain further experience in product development and production. However it was while visiting the vibrant country of India that she was inspired to realize her true calling. “My adoration of unique textiles and secret obsession for jewelry meant more to me than just a shopping experience.”

Having been surrounded by colorful textiles and intricate artwork all her life, as a result of growing up in an Afro-Caribbean household, Monique realized this trip sparked an interest that had remained dormant for a long time. Monique decided to take her two loves; that of jewelry and that of textiles and fuse them together, giving birth to I’MONIQ (pronounced I-MON-IC) Accessories.

As a globetrotter Monique takes her inspiration from the things that she finds while on her travels, “everything I do begins with the materials, they dictate what the collection will be,” says the designer. Hand-crafted in her Toronto based studio, Monique creates intricately detailed necklaces, bracelets, and earrings; utilizing a variety of mixed metals, crystals and vibrant colored silks. “I believe accessories are meant to not only complete your outfit, but compliment your individuality.”  Loved by Grammy winner, Melanie Fiona, and a growing loyal customer base, I’MONIQ Accessories hopes to continue towards being the newly recognized choice for jewelry
